Why a Team Triathlon?

Thinking about entering a triathlon but not sure you have the confidence yet for three events? Joining a team is an excellent way to experience the excitement of a SHE triathlon without having to complete every leg yourself. It's also a great way to connect with friends or family and share in a major accomplishment.

What is a Triathlon Team?

A triathlon team is made up of two or three people who split the three events: swimming, cycling, and running/walking.

Three-Person Team: Each person specializes in one event. The first person swims, the second person cycles, and the third person runs or walks.
Two-Person Team: One person completes two of the legs, and the other person completes one. For example, one person could do the swim and the run, and the other person completes the cycle.

This format is perfect for anyone who might not be confident in a particular discipline. If you're a confident runner/walker but a nervous swimmer, you can team up with a friend who loves to swim. It allows everyone to play to their strengths and work together.

In previous SHE triathlons, we've seen amazing teams made up of three generations of women: a granddaughter doing the swim, a mother handling the bike leg, and a grandmother completing the final run or walk.

What is a Duathlon Team?

Don't want to swim at all? A Duathlon team is a great option. A duathlon consists of a run, followed by a cycle, and then another run.

Three-Person Duathlon Team: One person does the first run, the second person cycles, and the third person does the final run.
Two-Person Duathlon Team: One person does both run sections, and the other person handles the cycle leg.

How It Works on Race Day

When you arrive, your team will rack your bike in the transition area, just like individual athletes. Only the runner/walker on the team will wear the race number.

The "baton" for the team is a silicon bracelet. The swimmer starts the race wearing the silicon bracelet, and once they're out of the water, they hand the bracelet to the cyclist. The cyclist completes their leg, racks the bike, and then hands the bracelet to the runner/walker to start the final leg.

After the first two team members have finished their parts, they head to the finish line area to wait for the runner/walker. Once the whole team is reunited, you'll cross the finish line together, celebrating your shared achievement. Everyone on the team receives their own finisher medal to commemorate the accomplishment.

Who wears their race number?

Only the runner only where’s the race number.

What’s in your race pack?

In your race pack, you'll find two or three T-shirts (one for each team member) and a single race number. At the finish line, everyone receives a finisher medal.
